Citing Defense Aviation Post, the Indian Navy could acquire 57 twin-engne fighter aircraft that will be used on the aircraft carrier Vikramaditya. The new jet will be developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) that should be ready by 2026. Russia’s Aircraft Corporation MiG has fulfilled its obligations to deliver kits for the modernisation of India’s MiG-29 fighters into the MiG-29UGP version, MiG Director General Sergei Korotkov told reporters. A MiG-29 fighter aircraft today crashed near Lalparda village in Gujarat's Jamnagar district. There was no report of any casualties as the pilot ejected safely. An Indian Air Force official said the aircraft, which was on a routine sortie, crashed at around 13:30 hours. "The pilot ejected safely when the plane crashed," the official added.
