Naval vessels will be provided berthing facilities at the proposed Vizhinjam port. The decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the Union Defence Minister A K Antony at the Southern Naval Command, here on Saturday. The CBI is likely to register a preliminary enquiry (PE) to look if the UK-based helicopter supplier AgustaWestland had paid alleged kickbacks to a senior Army officer to swing the deal for supplying Light Utility Helicopters to the Army in its favour.
